May demo at StereoScope
StereoScope opened their doors for everyone to come in and participate in an awesome open-house event. Several manufactures demonstrated off how their products fit into both standard and 3D workflows. No smoke and mirrors here, everything was hands on and accessible for an up-close personal look.
We wanted to provide you with a scenario where you could shoot 3D, see it, record it, share it and leave understanding everything you saw. I have posted several diagrams to illustrate the workflow of how everything was connected and the paths the streams/data took. - Motion capture
- Uncompressed capture direct to DPX (right and left eye as separate files)
- Live 3D viewing from cameras to DLPs (Shutter, Anaglyph, etc..)
- Live streaming of right/left eye for polarized viewing to dual projectors in the theatre
- Editorial proxy creation (both in 3D and or right/left eye)
- Record/Playback to/from SAN
- Telecast fiber (2 cameras over one cable)
- Several camera rigs and manufactures (very cool to have everyone there)
- Avid, FCP integration/tools
Set-up
OK, so the wiring/connections were not so pretty.....2 stereo Raves, 1 single channel Rave, a Bright SAN, Telecast Fiber, 2 3d Live systems, numerous monitors and network to all....and no wire ties.

JR shows off the history of 3D
The Iconix and Cunima SDI, along with reference were sent over a single Telecast fiber cable
An uncompressed stream was also passed to BitJazz for real-time encoding into a truly lossless codec, which was then played over firewire
