What a tremendous turnout at the past Burbank demo, WOW
Lenny and all thanks for hanging out and giving us the wonderful comments on the new product.
I managed to snap a few photos, between conversations.
Camera rig was a pair of Iconix cameras, fed into a stereo Rave2K. Capture was dual 4:4:4, 10bit RGB from the cameras into the Rave. Each stream was recorded as uncompressed DPX right and left eyes. The 4:4:4 streams were converted simultaneously on the output to 4:2:2 and dual streams were fed into 3d Live. 3d Live took the SDI (dual streams) in and turned it into a stream to throw to a 3D ready DLP.
Nutshell: The ability to see what was coming from the cameras in 3D at the same time of the recording(or E/E) into individual right/left DPX files. This provided the means to correct any convergence issues before a single frame was captured. 3d Live also provided the ability to see what the picture was going to look like in the various 3D modes.
A few people from the 3D task force, along with a couple of grad students from USC came in and put some things in front of the cameras for us. Our focus was not on what was being shot for this demo. Besides, it made for a more interesting demo, as we just never knew what was going to be next.....great job guys
In addition, the new tools in Rave were shown (conversion to other formats) to stream out for dailies.
